“I was the tour manager and we had four band members, two crew I think. We’d burnt every promoter from one end of Australia to the other and I had to go and collect the money at the end of the night. We’d got reasonably good guarantees because of the Split Enz legacy, I suppose, but that was the first evidence of the brand name being really important. You just assume that there’d be a lot of interested people but you can’t assume anything ever.”
