How Will You Go
Neil Finn/Tim Finn

Escape is on your mind again
Escape to a far away land
At times it seems there is no end
To long hard nights of drinking

How will you go
How will you go
Drive through the wind and the rain
Cover it up
Cover it up
I’ll find you a shelter to sleep in

I fell over on the couch again
But you know not all sleep is wasted
Your dreams are alcohol inspired
You can’t find a better way to face it

How will you go
How will you go
Drive through the wind and the rain
Cover it up
Cover it up
I’ll find you a shelter to sleep in

And you know I’ll be fine
Just don’t ask me how it’s going
Gimme time, gimme time
Cause I want you to see
Round the world round the world
Is a tangled up necklace of pearls

How will you go
How will you go
Drive through the wind and the rain
Cover it up
Cover it up
I’ll find you a shelter to sleep in

Crowded House - Woodface (1991 album)

Live: Fangradio broadcasts 2020-2021

In terms of the music, the verse was mine. Neil’s was the chorus and the bridge. The lyrics were pieced together from thinking about a friend of ours who was a recording engineer who had ended up killing himself. The story of his last few days was so harrowing, and so we got into this kind of mood, and it was bleak but it was beautiful and it was a little offering.
— Tim Finn, 2016
We did the two-part harmonies [on Woodface] together - five or six of them on one day. We recorded in Tim’s lounge room. A good two thirds of the record was recorded in his house in Caulfield. He put a 24-track studio in there and we just busked our way for a couple of months down home, so to speak, getting sandwiches from up the road. It was all very intimate and very enjoyable and low key.

Singing with Tim, it was an extreme pleasure and the most pleasurable aspect of it was that, really in Split Enz, we never exploited the two-part harmony thing as much as we should have, and we feel with this record we really pulled something out, which we haven’t really done since we were boys together performing for our parents’ friends.

I’m Still Here
Paul Hester/Neil Finn/Nick Seymour

2, 3, 4…

I’m still here
I’m still here
i’m still here (turn us up a bit)
I’m still here

I’m still here (He won’t go away)
I‘m still here (I won’t go away)
I’m still here
I’m still here (I’ve come to rain on your parade)

I’m still here
It’s getting late
Well, I’m still hanging ‘round, keeping my fingers crossed
I still want to get laid!

I’m still here
I’m still here (swing it! Huh!)
He won’t go away (Hold still now!)
I’m still here

I’m still here
I’m still here (I won’t go away) … still?
I’m still waiting for my cheque to come through
I’m cashing in my footsteps and stepping on you
TAXI !
I tell ya,
I’m still here, you’re still here, we’re still everywhere (still, still, still, still…)
Take your fancy underpants and stick them down your…

So I’m still here… come on Mitchell !
I’m still here (ha ha ha ha ha ha)
Do it again, Mitch, do It again! (Let me in!)
And do it with your other hand! (I’m still here)
Aw…. Mitchell… Mitchell fell off
And I’ll huff and I’ll puff
Get Up

Neil: That was pretty good for a minute then, Sounds great.
Paul: Ok, that’s the cut. That’s the take.
Mitchell: Good progress, self-indulgent.
Paul: I don’t know if I could double that.
Paul: I’m still here, I’m still here, background voc…

There were a couple of very memorable days where we let our hair down a little bit.

I was lying on the floor on my back, playing guitar, and Neil was playing drums. There were people around I didn’t even know. It all went down.
